RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS

Synopsis:

This story is about an Inuit girl who wants to attend Residential School to learn how to read. Both her father and her sister discourage her from going but she is determined. Olemaun (renamed Margaret) encounters many hardships and abuse while at the school as those around her try to wear down her spirit. Tormented specifically by one nun, Margaret must stay strong and persevere.

 

This book also contains many historical photographs that coincide with the story.
